While there have been some videos and reports on Ukrainian authorities taking in individuals and detaining them, there is some context lacking in this claim. Yes, men are being detained, but it’s because they meet draft requirements, so that can’t be claimed as kidnapping. Ukraine is currently under wartime law. The user who originally posted the claim on Bluesky has similar posts and even a video of what seems to be Ukrainian authorities forcefully detaining a man. Still, there is little to no content on whether he is being kidnapped for war or just being abused by the police.      This claim is not necessarily false, but there is a lot of gray area. The PBS report indicates that Ukraine has resorted to severe measures when dealing with men who are hiding from the draft. This is where the gray area is because it does not imply that Ukraine is simply kidnapping men off the streets. This report is mostly concerned with making sure the draft dodgers are following the wartime military rules, while describing these cases as kidnappings makes the situation seem worse than it actually is.

     The BBC report is another example of misleading information because there are a few extreme cases that are used to make it seem like this occurs to all Ukrainian men. There is a difference between being forced to serve under wartime draft and being kidnapped, so describing the entire system as kidnapping leaves out many important details.
