This claim, "University of Oregon football player Daylen Austin was arrested for connection to a fatal hit and run", came from ESPN and is true. On ESPN, it states how a secondary source, The Eugene Police Department, says that "a 46-year-old man was killed around 9:10 p.m. Monday when he was struck roughly 2 miles from the university campus." A spokesperson from the University of Oregon, backed this up by saying how they are aware of the situation and they are waiting on more information. In addition to this, I did my own research and found even another source that confirms this claim which is the New York Post. It states how, "Austin was then arrested at around 11:45 p.m., according to ABC. (ABC also being a credible source).
ESPN is considered a valid source. When it comes to sports news, statistics, and analysis, ESPN is a good media outlet that has access to official sports data and employs skilled journalists. Along with interviews and live reporting, ESPN also performs interviews and live reporting pretty often and are both regarded as main sources.
