The American rapper and record producer, Sean "Diddy" Combs has been sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in federal prison after being convicted of charges related to prostitution from his previous relationships. The accusations and allegations of Diddy all started in late 2023, when his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, filed a civil lawsuit against him, alleging a coercive sexual relationship, as well as claims of domestic violence. In the lawsuit, Ventura claimed there were "freak-offs", which led Combs down a very dark path of consistent allegations, and his own industry initial start of turning on him. After videos of abuse leaked and several allegations have come out in a 6 month period, Combs was arrested in a Manhattan hotel in September of 2024. After his property's in Los Angeles in Miami were raided, hundreds of new allegations arising in the press, Diddy was put on trial in May of 2025. After two months of the lawsuit, a unanimous decision was made by the jury that Combs was not guilty of the charges like racketeering and sex trafficking, but was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution of Ventura. Both of those charges hold a 10-year maximum, but Combs received 4 years and 2 months. Diddy is serving time in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, expected to finish in 2029.

The statement that is being claimed is true. On October 3, 2025, Combs was in fact sentenced by a U.S. federal judge to 4 years and 2 months + a $500,000 fine with 5 years of supervised release according to CNN . In total he’s serving 50 months in prison for his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Mann Act (which is a violation of the federal Mann Act: a federal offense to transport individuals across state lines for immoral purposes often associated with prostitution).

Diddy was also charged with this because of  multiple testimonies, one of them being “Cassandra Ventura, and a woman known by the pseudonym Jane- to take part in “freak offs”” this was cited by Reuters. The reasoning for the sentencing is a “nutshell” prosecutors had argued for 11 years (the equivalency to 135 months) while defense argued for no longer than 14 months CBS. Clearly there was more of a middle ground when the sentencing happened, as explained before he got a total of 50 months.

After researching this claim I found it to be true. Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to just over 50 months in prison- equating to around 4 years and 2 months-  October 3rd, 2025, for his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a $500,000 fine.

CNN and multiple other reliable sources reported this same evidence. This article dives deeper into things said by Combs himself, his defense lawyers, and provides more information on his potential appeal.

Sean Diddy Combs was in fact sentenced to 4 years and 2 months at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, NY. As stated in the CNN article, Combs’ sentence was for the Mann Act offenses and “not sex trafficking or racketeering charges he was acquitted for.” The judge was adamant that he was serving enough time to “send a message” that women abuse is not acceptable and will be reprimanded while sharing his gratitude for all witnesses and victims who showed up and spoke about their experiences.

Speaking on the article NPR published, The Associated Press has shared that the facility in which Combs was placed is one of 1,200 detainees and is coined “hell on earth” or an “ongoing tragedy.” He attempted to plead not guilty but was unsuccessful as he was in fact sexually and physically abusing women for decades.

Mark Savage and Alex Taylor then wrote in an article published by BBC that Diddy was sentenced to four years and two months for “two counts of transportation for prostitution” after a trial that lasted a total of 7 weeks. Aside from these convictions, he has also received a series of lawsuits by “dozens of women, many of which are still going.” Is his conviction “fair” or does Sean “Diddy” Combs deserve a maximum sentence of 10 years for his crimes?

From everything I have read, the claim that Diddy will serve only a little over 4 years is true. He was sentenced to 50 months in prison and fined $500,000, with his lawyers intending to appeal his conviction. Diddy was convicted of two counts of transportation for prostitution, while avoiding time for the biggest charges of racketeering and sex trafficking that were both dropped. Transportation for purposes of prostitution carries a maximum sentence of 10 years, with Diddy being convicted of 2 counts, there was a possibility of him serving 20 years. According to the BBC, prosecutors asked for a minimum of 11 years, but had to settle for 4 years and 2 months (50 months).

Sean "Diddy" Combs' lawyers stated that the prosecutors' attempt to sentence Diddy to a minimum of 11 years in prison would be a dramatic overreach and immediately asked for him to be released from federal detention until his sentencing hearing, suggesting a $1 million bail. However, a judge denied the request and said a significant sentence was required to send a message and act as a deterrent.

This article by ABC News talks about how In July, the jury acquitted Combs of the most serious charges he faced, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. It also gives an account of a letter Diddy wrote to the judgeafter his defence attorneys asked for a sentence of 14 months. Combs wrote in a letter to the judge overseeing his case before the sentencing."In my life, I have made many mistakes, but I am no longer running from them. I am so sorry for the hurt that I caused, but I understand that the mere words "I'm sorry" will never be good enough, as these words alone cannot erase the pain from the past."
