Looks like he said this while appearing as a guest on the Triggernometry Podcast. There's a segment called "advising Trump on Iran Strategy" and another titled "Weakening Iran and Global Consequences" and his statements are in those segments of the podcast. There's no proof that Cruz's statements were what influenced Trump's decision and Trump has said nothing about Ted Cruz. Cruz himself is a conservative republican which could strongly contribute to his beliefs about the Iran invasion in general which is something to keep in mind.

The claim that Ted Cruz directly admitted he influenced Donald Trump’s decision toward war with Iran the day before it began is a misleading statement. It originates from small, unverified social media posts that don't provide a video, transcript, or credible reporting with substantial evidence to back it up. Searches of major outlets like Reuters and AP News show no evidence that Cruz made this admission or that the specific timing and quote are accurate. The closest verifiable source is a Triggernometry podcast interview where Cruz discusses Iran, and he expresses his support for strong action against their regime, which aligns directly with his established political views, but does not confirm the wording or claim that he directly influenced that decision. Overall, the claim takes a real position and exaggerates it into a specific and unsupported narrative about his responsibility and timing.
