#EU countries are panicking that Donald #Trump might retaliate and completely stop funding Kyiv for refusing to help in the conflict with #Iran. Politico reports this, citing four EU diplomats.

It seams true that EU fears that the US abandon Ukraine if they keep on not supporting the US, but the phrasing used is not about panicking or a complete stop of the funding but rather a redirection of the resources on Iran and the fears around it,

The 4 EU diplomats who are quoted and used in the articles remains anonymous which does not help the absolute verification of what has truly being said by them but which also is logical knowing the tense situations in which diplomats grappling with these conflicts find themselves. So no primary sources to fastcheck this affirmation but the source article on which the other articles discussing this topic are based
https://www.politico.eu/article/war-iran-ukraine-pull-europe-us-apart/ this is the main article from Politico from which derive the affirmation to fastcheck. This article is more generally talking about the growing gap between Europe's interests and the US especially since Europe is not supporting the US in their conflict against Iran. Even though it is important to say that these tensions between both blocs are not new to Iran's conflict but since Trump came back to power and since he began gradually withdrawing his support for Ukraine.

Then here is the article focusing mainly on the claim to fastcheck : https://news.liga.net/en/politics/news/politico-eu-fears-trump-will-cut-off-support-for-ukraine-after-refusing-to-help-with-iran

Politico is privately owned by a German media company so from Europe, it is important to know that to be aware that it might stress more on the European point of view and stand by their side.

The issue is that I can't find the original message from the Bluesky user so no way to contact him/her, and as we don't have any names from the diplomats, no way to contact them either.

So even though there are articles from actual journals and sources to fast check the information you want to check it is not in the way it is phrased here.

The original source from Bluesky isn't avalibale but the article from the Political reveals the expanded information: https://www.politico.eu/article/war-iran-ukraine-pull-europe-us-apart/ Politico is a prominent American political journal that focuses on US and international politics. While the Journal originated in the US, a German media company later bought it, and the primary headquarters is located in Brussels. Due to the company's current owners and headquarters, the political journal mainly focuses on the European perspective. The author of the article, Nicolas Vinocur, is the Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent for Politico. Given his senior position and professional background, he is generally considered a reliable journalist. However, particular parts of the article contain quotes from diplomats regarding the tensions between the US and European leaders, but he keeps his sources anonymous by referring to them as "one diplomat said." This requires the reader to trust the journalists intergretty and access to high-position leaders.

The core premise of the information appears to be true: European leaders are concerned about potential retaliation from Donald Trump and the US regarding future funding for Ukraine if they don't support the US-Israel conflict in Iran. While leaders are concerned they aren't "panicking" over potential U.S policy shifts with Donald Trump, this tension is further complicated by the US pressue on its allies to back their military campaign against Iran, under the threat of diplomatic consequences. In the Time, a mainstream news source claimed Trump is considering pulling out of NATO if European countries won't back the US military campaign, which aligns with the Politico article that EU leaders are being pressured to align with the US. time.com/article/2026/04/01/trump-considering-pulling-us-out-of-nato-iran-war-legal-options/. The article from the Politico is based on an interview from a unamed diplomat. This indicates that the information is from an inside source, but since they are anonymous, their credibility cannot be verified. The claim is based on an unverified statement, which forces the reader to trust the journalist.
