Our colleague at RT, Rick Sanchez, along with Stanislav Krapivnik, reports that they have received information that the 82nd Airborne is preparing to deploy to Iran.Earlier today, we also reported that a U.S. TRANSCOM Boeing 747-481 departed Fort Bragg

The claim that the 82nd Airborne is deploying directly to Iran and that a TRANSCOM Boeing 747 leaving Fort Bragg is misleading.

For the primary source the Bluesky post for the fact check has been removed but after looking I couldnt find any primary source supporting this claim. For secondary sources The Washington Post reported that parts of the 82nd Airborne are being sent to the Middle East as part of a larger U.S. military response to rising tensions in the region, including issues involving Iran.  The Associated Press is also reporting the same information, stating that roughly 1,000 troops from the 82nd Airborne are being deployed to the Middle East as part of a rapid-response force.

The Washington Post sometimes focuses on the bigger political situation around a story. In this case, it might highlight tensions between the U.S. and Iran in a way that makes events seem more connected to a possible conflict than official government statements clearly say.

There is no credible evidence confirming that U.S. troops from the 82nd Airborne are being deployed directly into Iran. In addition, a single TRANSCOM aircraft departure from Fort Bragg does not reveal the destination or mission, so it cannot be used as proof of an Iran deployment.
