After a rather extensive list of google searches, I can say that this claim is FALSE. 

Recently, there's been media surfacing about this topic, but there has been zero buzz from established media sources regarding the arrest of ICE agents by NYPD. This issue hasn't garnered substantial media attention, resulting in a lack of verifiable information regarding this topic, but there are a few sites covering the topic.

[2] [1] Video material surfacing appears to be AI-generated, supposedly from Sora AI. As the video was posted initially on social platforms on TikTok / Instagram, it was reposted and spread around the internet. Some even have the SORA AI Label. 

Although the credibility of such sources is questionable, the evident lack of information available on the web regarding what would be an issue that would spark much debate online and in-person, in addition to any lack of statement from the NYPD themselves leads to a conclusion that this claim is FALSE.

This claim about the New York Police arresting ICE agents seems to be false. The videos floating around seem to be created with AI using apps like SORA. Most of the content of these videos can be traced back to one person posting them on Instagram (@mikewaynedotcom) where they are shared more on TikTok by other users. Looking at the user's account, most of the videos seem to be AI, and all of the comments under the videos say this is AI and do not believe it. To make sure I was right, I looked at the mannerisms in the video, and the voice of the officer, which all sound very artificial and AI created, standing out to me as this video is clearly fake.

When looking to see if this post was factual or not, I found many instances of there being tensions with ICE and the NYPD, but no actual arrests of any ICE agents. An AFP analysis also flagged uniform issues with the video, showing how the video was artificially made. In reality, there is no ICE being arrested in New York, and this is all AI created and spun about on social media.

“New York Police Arresting ICE Agents.” Quite an interesting and hooking title. As soon as you click the link, the page comes up and the post no longer exists. This post was found on Threads, published by a user named Yanna. This pushed me to further investigate and ultimately end up at a dead end. There are no articles speaking about the New York police arresting ICE agents, but there are articles about New York signing a new legislation preventing its local enforcement from engaging in any ICE activity. 

According to AMNY, Governor Kathy Hochul introduced a bill to legislation banning local law enforcement from collaborating with ICE as Trump’s administration continues to push its immigration campaign. She describes Trump’s agenda as leading the world into a state of tyranny. Following the events happening in Minneapolis, such as the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, the people of New York have been vocal about their fears of the administration and shock of immigration policies. Through this bill, she ensures her community that local enforcement will not engage in these “unspeakable acts of violence” (Vance). She will not allow the government to continue disrespecting and abusing its power. The NYPD will continue its job of protecting the state from localized crime; there will be trust between the New York police department and its community. 

Off of that, this post is quite misleading. The user didn’t attach any reliable sources to support their claim. Reading some of the comments, one mentioned use of AI, which is a reasonable explanation for this potential source. AI has transformed in quite an advanced way where the general public is having trouble differentiating the real from the fake. There may have been a great use of AI, fooling the public in believing that the New York Police were arresting ICE Agents. But, with the help of further research, we have received clarification that the New York police will not be engaging with ICE or with immigration.
