Chairwoman Lisa McClain's claim “Democrats are marching with communists & Soros activists this weekend — time to stop catering to them & stand with American workers! Open the government, pay our troops, and REJECT Schumer’s dirty, wasteful spending proposal” is completely fabricated for political rhetorical exaggeration in the video. One of many debunks we can point out is the use of the words "communist" and "Soros Activists." Throughout the video, she presents partisan discourse yet fails to back up her claims with credible sources. Also, another thing to point out is that the statement was posted by the House Republicans’ Bluesky profile, which the profile has been known to post other evidence from OANN Network, known for promoting pro-Trump narratives and conspiracy theories, including election denialism. Also, McClain has spread misinformation before by making false claims that Trump captured Osama bin Laden.

Fact check: In a series of false claims, Republican Rep. Lisa McClain says Trump caught Osama bin Laden | CNN Politics

To simply put she is trying to use emotionally charged language to frame opposition to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s spending proposal.  The post was probably made to gain the support of conservatives and influence their belief in her points. Overall, the claim is false with no factual evidence to support.

This claim was originally posted to BlueSky by the @HouseGOP, which is a verified account on the platform, though it does not seem to have any government connections. It claims in the user bio that it is ran by Republican Conference chairwoman, Lisa McClain.

In the video attached to the claim, Lisa McClain states that protesters from the “No Kings” protest that occurred this past weekend were at the “I hate America Rally”. There were no further details on communism or Soros activist in the video, which may mean that the headline was trying to clickbait viewers in.

According to the NYT, most of the protests were peaceful and friendly, and children and families were at attendance (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/18/us/protests-trump-no-kings.html). The protests were held in most major US cities, and were focused on Trump’s presidency.
