President Trump joked Monday that the Norwegian representative to the Gaza peace conference was hiding after the five-member Norwegian Nobel Committee snubbed him Friday by giving its prestigious peace prize to a Venezuelan opposition leader.

“We have Norway. Oh, Norway, aye aye aye! Norway, what happened? Norway, what happened?” Trump said during a celebratory speech on the peace agreement he helped broker between Hamas and Israel.

President Trump was passed up for a Nobel Peace prize after vying for it for quite some time. The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced that Maria Corina Machado would be given the award for "her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy" (nobelprize.org). One of Trump's senior aides described this decision as "placing politics over peace."

According to the New York Post, Trump did say "“We have Norway. Oh, Norway, aye aye aye! Norway, what happened? Norway, what happened?”" (New York Post)during a celebratory speech on the peace agreement he helped broker between Hamas and Israel. However, claiming this as a "snub" is an opinion and cannot be determined based by other information.
