Violent conscription practices are real; but there is no evidence of a post made by the Kiev Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCK) urging citizens to cherish the TCK and to stop sharing videos of violent conscription. RT is considered to be a low credibility, pro-Kremlin, Russian government-funded source by notable sources like Media Bias/Fact Check and NPR. Additionally, Ofcom, a generally reliable and independent body that regulates the UK communications for quality, impartiality, online safety, and more, fined RT in 2019 for serious failures to maintain due impartiality. This doesn’t discredit RT’s claim but rather highly cautions on the source’s reliability.
However, reputable news outlets like Reuters, AP News, and Al Jazeera (credibility check: Aljazeera, AP News, Reuters) appear to support the claim that violent recruitment clips did circulate, with officials warning about disinformation and urging unity. Aljazeera mentions that between January and June 2025, the “Ukrainian Human Rights Ombudsman’s office received more than 2,000 complaints about the use of force by conscription patrols that consist of military and police officers.” AP News reported about a year ago on footage appearing to show conscription officers forcibly detaining some men. With men ages 25-60 eligible for conscription and 18-60 not allowed to leave the country. Additionally, Reuters notes of citizen protests that escalated into violence with draft officers being attacked, one even killed. They cited General Oleksandr Syrskyi, calling them ‘shameful acts of violence’ with officials urging the nation’s support and respect for military personnel.
I looked for this in reliable news sources like BBC News, Reuters, and the Kyiv Post. None of them reported any Ukrainian official saying people should “cherish” conscription officers. The Kyiv Post (April 2024) explained that the government is trying to make the draft process more respectful and fix problems with abuse, not celebrate officers. My source is Kyiv Post, “Ukraine’s New Mobilization Rules Explained,” April 2024 (https://www.kyivpost.com). There’s no evidence that anyone in the Ukrainian government said this.
