This claim is false as there is no available information that former President Barack Obama committed treason. Treason means helping enemies of the U.S. or making war against it, and nothing Obama did meets that definition. President Donald Trump has claimed Obama spied on his 2016 campaign, but has never shown real evidence. Experts and U.S. intelligence officials say these claims are false. Investigations, including a bipartisan Senate report, found Russia interfered in 2016 but found no crimes by Obama.

This is a false statement about former President Barack Obama that has no credible information to back it up at all. This was an idea and accusation from President Donald J. Trump about Obama while he was in the last couple months of his presidency in 2017. According to the text from FactCheck.org, A Project of The Annenberg Public Policy Center, “Barack Hussein Obama was just caught redhanded trying to convince Canаdian President Justin Trudeau to help him take down President Donald Trump.” This story's severity was inflated by the New York Times in a way that caused people to think for a second that it was true. Additionally, BBC News states how Obama's spokesman said, "Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes." This piece of evidence shows how Obama truly did not have anything to do with a claim regarding treason. Politico also adds that President Trump likely made these outlandish claims about Barrack Obama to deflect questions about his own involvement with Jefferey Epstein. Ultimately, there was no evidence from President Trump himself, or any others that backed up this claim of Obama committing treason during the final months of his presidency so that is why it is false.

This claim on former president Obama is false. Trump offers no proof rather states “He’s guilty,” Trump asserted, “This was treason. This was every word you can think of." with no evidence actually provided.

his claim appears to be misleading and is most likely false. https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/22/politics/trump-obama-treason-accusation-analysis, says that this claim stemmed from an accusation of President Trump saying that Russia interfered with the 2016 election by hacking the voting system to skew results in Obama's favor. However, there is no evidence to back up this claim. Trump also accused Biden and many other high officials, but stated that " The leader of the gang was President Obama.", and Obama's office responded to this claim and exclaimed. "These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction. Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes." Another source I looked at was https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cedgqnp897lo, this article had similar things to say and quoted Trump saying "He tried to steal the election." When talking about Obama and the 2016 election. This article also says that Trump made this claim when he was under pressure when he faced questions relating to Jeffery Epstein who he was "well connected with" Trump then said, "The witch hunt that you should be talking about is they caught President Obama absolutely cold". Once again, there was no evidence to back up any of the claims in this article. Another quote I found came from https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/07/25/donald-trump-barack-obama-treason-immunity-jeffrey-epstein/85372083007/ , where President Trump told a reporter that President Obama "owes him". There was no further elaboration, and he didn't specify what he owed him for. Based on these pieces of evidence, I can say that this claim seems false as there is no evidence to back up President Trump's claim.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/7/25/can-barack-obama-be-prosecuted-over-russian-interference-intelligence

This claim is false, as there is no true evidence on whether or not Obama spied on the 2016 election, as President Donald Trump claimed. In fact, one of the news articles on Aljazeera states that "the documents...do not provide evidence that...Obama ordered the investigation to reach a pre-determined conclusion".

While there was skepticism on the fact that Russia may have probed or tried to "rigg" the 2016 election, this was not due to Obama's actions, so it can be confirmed the Obama did not commit treason, as stated by this anonymous Bluesky user.

There is a minimal amount of information, outside of what is posted on blue sky, existing on user savagehenry77.bsky.social. However, it is important to note that this user has posted various harmful 'claims' constructed on racial stereotypes and opinions. For example, their posts range from "Sydney Sweeney is my heroine," to "The only good Muslims are Indonesian. Arabs, Turks, and Africans have spent their right to live." This information allows the analyzer to contextualize the claim by understanding the accuracy of the source and its typical media produced.

The user claims that "Obama committed treason." To counter this claim, Zachary B. Wolf published an article on CNN Politics titled "Trump accuses Obama of treason, annotated." Furthermore, other sources, including The Guardian and USA Daily, confirm that it is not a fact that Obama committed treason rather it is an accusation made by Trump. Therefore, we can confirm that this claim is false as it is an accusation and not a fact.

The claim that Barack Obama committed treason is not true and has no real proof. Treason means helping the enemy during a war, and Obama was never charged with this. According to https://www.factcheck.org/2018/06/no-treason-or-bust-for-obama/ “there is no proof Obama committed treason”. In 2025, some papers were shared by Tulsi Gabbard saying there was a “treasonous conspiracy” involving Obama’s team, but the Associated Press checked and found no real evidence https://apnews.com/article/gabbard-russia-2016-steele-dossier-0452e1079506daa86d75fa0a2f22fc60. Even former President Trump said bad things about Obama, but experts say these claims are false and not true https://m.economictimes.com/news/international/us/trump-posts-fake-video-of-obama-in-jail-declares-treason-and-crime-of-the-century-in-ai-driven-blitz/amp_articleshow/122843884.cmsIt’s important to believe facts and real reports, not wrong claims.

There is no real evidence that former President Barack Obama committed treason, although there has been claims spreading online. According to Politico, President Trump has requested the department of justice to investigate Obama over his involvement in the 2016 election. (https://www.politico.com/news/2025/07/22/trump-epstein-urges-doj-obama-00467514?utm_source=chatgpt.com). AP News explains that there is no connection between Obama and the documents involved with the election.  (https://apnews.com/article/gabbard-russia-2016-steele-dossier-0452e1079506daa86d75fa0a2f22fc60). As The Guardian points out, calling someone a traitor is outlandish.  Especially when used for political gain.  (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/jul/25/trump-says-obama-committed-treason-this-is-alice-in-wonderland-style-justice?utm_source=chatgpt.com). Treason is a punishable crime, and in this case not backed up.

This claim is false. It is an accusation by Trump and is not true. According to CNN, Trump accused Obama of treason, a crime punishable by US law, because he spoke with the Philippine president. After the accusations, he lost his election in 2020, which made it difficult for him to be true. But the question that arises is, where is the evidence? According to the US Constitution, Obama did not commit any treason, so there is no clear evidence, just talk. Trump did not stop at treason, but also declared that Obama owes him a big

False, Obama did not commit treason. There has been no investigation that he has committed treason and not criminal charges. According to FactCheck.org, "No treason charges have ever been filed against Obama." There is no real evidence or leads that suggests he committed treason. Also, the Washington Post suggests the allegations are even bizarre. Lastly, Reuters also backs it up that this claim is false by saying, "these bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction."
