This claim is deemed to be true due to the articles, The Independent.com, various sources and providing the video of Trump speaking the claim.

“He made $2.5 billion, and he made $900 million! That’s not bad!” Trump said, pointing to financial investor Charles Schwab and then NASCAR team owner Roger Penske. The men were part of a visiting guest contingent of mostly racing notables.

This claim is undoubtedly true. Trump was openly bragging in the Oval Office about the successes his friends have had in the stock market following the pause of his tariffs. The quote “He made $2.5 billion, and he made $900 million! That’s not bad!” can be seen in the video I've linked below, as well as an article from Yahoo News. This story is seemingly sparking a lot of negative backlash online, as seen by the number of articles written on the situation.

I loved that your answer was straight to the point. Your sources however were from Youtube and Yahoo, not to say they're not reliable, but Youtube can be more opinion based. Other than that I think you did a wonderful job.

I fact-checked the claim that “Trump bragged in the Oval Office that his billionaire pals made a killing in stocks after he pulled the plug on tariffs,” and it turns out the claim is true and documented. A video shared in a 2024 article from "The Independent " which was added to the comment, shows Trump in the Oval Office pointing to Charles Schwab and Roger Penske, saying: “He made $2.5 billion, and he made $900 million! That’s not bad!” which is in reference to the financial gains that are supposedly tied to Trump’s reversal on tariffs. This contradicts earlier reports that the quote was merely rumored or speculative. In terms of your comment I would say your addition of "The Independent" article deeply helped your argument. guidance. Both comments aimed to help strengthen their fact-checks with more context or credibility.
