I think that moderate consumption of dark chocolate can indeed help relieve stress by boosting mood, lowering cortisol levels, and offering a comforting treat. However, it should be part of an overall healthy lifestyle, as overconsumption or reliance on chocolate for stress management can have the opposite effect.

Yes, eating chocolate can actually help reduce stress. In 2018, a study from Loma Linda University Health in California shared insights on the benefits of dark chocolate and how it affects brain waves. “What we pointed out was that the consumption of antioxidants has the capability to change your brain frequency—a beneficial brain frequency called gamma,” Berk told Healthline. “The gamma frequency is up-regulated, enhanced, and turned on by virtue of the chocolate antioxidants.” In other words, eating dark chocolate can help your brain function better by improving memory, focus, and stress levels. It’s also been shown to support cognitive function in aging populations, meaning it could help keep the brain sharp as we grow older.

The claim that eating chocolate relieves stress is true. According to the National Library of Medicine, dark and milk chocolate reduce stress. During a study where 60 students were divided into 3 groups and each group was given either milk, dark, or white chocolate, researchers found that milk and dark chocolate reduce stress levels, especially in women. It’s not the flavor of milk or dark chocolate, but the cocoa solids within them that are the stress relievers. This is because cocoa is a source of flavanol antioxidant, which helps lower blood pressure and inflammation throughout the body. So yes, eating chocolate does relieve stress.

The claim states that "Eating Chocolate Relieves Stress", the source I researched is titled "Go Ahead, Treat Yourself... Dark Chocolate Improves Memory, Reduces Stress". This article summarized research from Loma Linda University of Health, which tested participants who consumed chocolate bars with 70% cacao. According to the study, EEG readings showed increased gamma frequency brain activity 30 mins after consumption, suggesting possible stress reduction and cognitive benefits. Dark Chocolate can supposedly benefit individuals within areas such as reduce stress, improve memory, prevent cell damage, and improve blood pressure. To verify this, I reviewed the original study and the National Library of Medicine, both being credible sources. This proves the point that the claim was trying to get across that chocolate relieves stress. The domain of this article is .edu which is a more commonly credible domain and can mean that more likely the information is accurate. I don't feel as though this article had any sort of bias, it had a real life example and it can't get much more realistic than that. This article was written by Jessica Wakeman, I attempted to find information about her on the internet and I found that there isn't much specifying her within these topics rather than that she is an independent journalist from New York. This could mean that she isn't very educated on the topic, although with the amount of research that was shown and the fact I found this information on other sources such as the National Library of Medicine I believe I have enough information to believe this claim is accurate.

The claim "eating chocolate reduces stress" is true. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, after eating chocolate, people's stress hormone cortisol levels were reduced. It is believed to be associated with dark chocolate's impact on heart health. Love Cocoa, a chocolate company, says chocolate is made up of stress-related chemicals like theobromine, phenethylamine, tryptophan, antioxidants, magnesium, and cannabinoid compounds. Dark chocolate helps control the release of cortisol, while milk chocolate helps lower stress levels for anxiety.

I think there is some truth behind it, but also not much infromation to back the statement up besides a comment and a link. There is scientific support for this claim, especially with dark chocolate because it can reduce stress and contribute to feeling relaxed and calm. Yet its also not super good for you, depending on the chocolate you get and the portion size you eat, because it can lead to high levels of fat and cholesterol. Most of the benefits are short-term term and having certain chocolate can lead to an unhealthy diet and lead to more intestinal problems.

The consumption of chocolate and its influence on decreasing stress levels appears to be widely supported. The original claim states that chocolate can lower cortisol levels. This claim has also been made by many other sources related to the topic, so it can be assumed that chocolate indeed does have that impact. One specific study from The National Library of Medicine concludes that "Consumption of 40g of Dark and Milk chocolate daily during a period of 2 weeks appear to be an effective way to reduce perceived stress in females."

This claim seems to be largely true. The article claims that both milk chocolate and dark chocolate can somewhat relieve stress levels, with white chocolate not offering a significant amount of relief compared to the two. The article references a study which the National Library of Medicine also reported on, which followed students over a two week period regularly eating chocolate. the Study compared the effects of all three types and found that dark chocolate was most effective. A number of other trustworthy sources also report that eating chocolate can reduce stress levels such as, Johns Hopkins, Healthline, and ScienceDirect. There is another study referenced which produces similar results. With these in mind, the article seems roughly true.

This claim is true, as the source provided found in a study that men who ate "dark chocolate released less cortisol". Cortisol is the primary stress hormone found in the body, as I learned from the article. While dark chocolate might be the best, most effective stress reliever, people in another study who ate milk chocolate "lowered the stress they felt by two to three points". This VeryWell study was more focused on men, so I also utilized another source to check this claim in women. The National Library of Medicine found that consumption of different chocolate types is an "effective way to reduce perceived stress in women". Overall, my research concluded that both milk and dark chocolate can help decrease specific hormones such as cortisol, which directly influence stress levels. However, dark chocolate might be more effective in doing so.

The idea that eating chocolate relieves stress is partly true. Some studies have found that eating small amounts of chocolate around 40 g daily for two weeks can lower stress hormones and improve mood in people who report feeling stressed. Researchers think this may be due to cocoa’s antioxidants and its effect on brain chemicals linked to relaxation.

However, the effect is modest and depends on the type of chocolate. Dark chocolate with high cocoa content works best, while sugary milk chocolate offers little benefit. Since chocolate is also high in calories and sugar, it’s not a complete cure for stress.

It can. Dark and milk chocolate have the ability to minimize cortisol levels, which measures stress levels in the body. It's also better to consume dark chocolate for long-term benefit as milk chocolate contains more fat and sugar. So you may as well lower stress for the long-term as well. Though, verywellmind shows that white chocolate seems to have minimal effects, as their study showed that guys consuming white chocolate reacted with more cortisol in a stressful situation. Overall, it's safe to say that chocolate can relieve stress.
