After reading through the article I agree that coffee can help with weight loss, the article talked about how caffeine can increase your metabolism and about how coffee helps keep you awake so you can be more active. The article also cited a trusted government website which makes it easier to believe.

This is an extremely well-done claim, especially the referenced source. The article is written by a trustworthy author, Kris Gunnars, who has a degree in medicine and also is the founder of Authority Nutrition. The highlight of this source is the multiple references to published articles by scholars, which strengthens how much the words and information weigh. Henry Ford Health also mentioned how caffeine can increase metabolism, and therefore aid with weight loss indirectly.

This article is a good article to use for this claim. The author sites his sources throughly throughout and the key source used is National Library of Medicine, which is a really good website to cite because it is a .org website, ensuring this article is factual:

Looking into other websites and claims, they all share the same information that this article claims: caffeine helps to lose weight. Though I would argue it helps to lose weight mostly because it is an appetite suppressor, not necessarily because it increase's your metabolism.
Overall this is a good claim, I would add in more details to further support it but this is a good website to use to further back it.

It makes points like the fact that caffeine boosts your metabolism and helps stimulate the nervous system. I found a great article by U.S News and World Report that supports this claim. They wrote about a 2017 study in Iran that women who took 400mgs of a green coffee bean extract pill for eight weeks and kept a low-calorie diet lost more weight than the people who didn't take the pill. It also mentions a study where caffeine had an appetite-reducing effect on men but not women. Both articles show that caffeine does in fact boost metabolism and helps with weight loss. However just consuming caffeine is not going to inherently make you lose weight, you have to also keep a calorie deficit and exercise, and caffeine will help you lose more weight.

While this fact check is accurate, It needs more substance and more information to really prove your point. I suggest adding more examples of ways that coffee helps lose weight as well as why increasing your metabolism would help you lose weight.

Coffee can help you lose weight. After doing my research, I found multiple articles that support this claim. It is not a direct weight-loss solution, but it can help. Caffeine acts as a stimulant and can help boost metabolism. It can also help control appetite. Drinking black coffee is best for weight-loss because adding syrups and extra stuff will add a lot of extra calories. The articles I read didn't have much bias and included both sides of the claim.

Caffeine has been linked to increase metabolism, but tolerance increases long term. Research from Fella Health has demonstrated enhanced fat oxidation rates following caffeine consumption, though the magnitude varies from person to person. Moreover, a study from Healthline found that while some found benefits of coffee promoting weight loss, other studies found no link to coffee consumption and weight loss. Especially if adding other add-ins like sugar, sweetener, or milk, it varies for the individual. Finally, GoodRx tells coffee drinkers to takeaway that "coffee can improve motivation and physical performance. This may help with weight loss by the way it impacts exercise and other health-promoting activities." Essentially, coffee will not create a significant calorie deficit for weight loss on its own, but can compliment other practices.

Coffee itself is actually low in calories and doesn't cause weight gain, and can actually boost your metabolism from the caffeine. That's if you drink it black with no add ins, creamers, or anything. With specialty and sweetened coffees, they add extra calories and can actually contribute to weight gain. So Just drinking plain black coffee or even adding low calorie add ins can help with weight loss.

The claim is false. A plain cup of coffee does not necessarily help you lose weight but it doesn’t make you gain either. However, most coffee that people drink these days have many extras add ons and that just make the calorie count go up. That being said every calorie adds up and in the long run coffee is shown to be connected with weight gain not loss.
