"California is banning the sale of all gas powered cars by 2030" is not true. The advanced Car Clean rule, which is part of California's actual plan, prohibits the sale of new gas-only vehicles beginning in 2035 rather then 2030.

This initially was true in 2022 according to a published article in the LA Times where they were pushing all those gas vehicles to put a battery or fuel cell to power them. They said that in the next ten years they were pushing for the zero emission cars. But this was later outdated and proved wrong. However the longer I looked I found that the BBC did in fact state the Senate nullified this action and it was signed by Trump to not ban gas vehicles. This article does not prove the claim is true.

The claim that "California is banning the sale of all gas-powered cars by 2030" is not quite accurate. California has set out a goal to phase out the sale of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035 by its Governor Gavin Newsom. According to an executive order placed by Governor Newsom, "...He issued an executive order requiring sales of all new passenger vehicles to be zero-emission by 2035..." https://www.gov.ca.gov/2020/09/23/governor-newsom-announces-california-will-phase-out-gasoline-powered-cars-drastically-reduce-demand-for-fossil-fuel-in-californias-fight-against-climate-change/

Though now, the ban has been blocked by federal action in May 2025. The action has overturned California's ban as this would've affected 11 other states that has adopted California's emission standards. https://www.thecentersquare.com/california/article_d484081a-d036-4b68-964d-6d5085b81df8.html#:~:text=(The%20Center%20Square)%20%2D%20Congress,and%20adopted%20California%20emissions%20standards.

This statement is not true. According to California Air Resources Board – Cars and Light-Trucks Are Going Zero (FAQ), and CalMatters news article on California’s electric vehicle rule.California’s rule says all new cars, trucks, and SUVs sold in the state must be zero-emission by 2035, not 2030. The plan slowly increases the share of electric cars each year until it reaches 100% in 2035. People will still be able to buy and sell used gas-powered cars after that date. So, there is no full ban by 2030. It was originally supposed to be 2030 acouple years ago but that has changed since.
